At 0900 hours President Glenn Carpenter called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a Moment of Silence for officer’s slain in the line of duty and the family and friends of this officer in their time of need. May we also remember those Blue Knights having transferred to Heaven I and those that are sick or distressed. Guest Tom Capers –DOD Police Officer completed an application and R.T. Hanson was a guest of Ed Rudd. Member Jim Kern was presented his membership certificate. Presidents Report: (Glenn Carpenter) International Convention: Those who are running for office were officially announced. Our own Jack Kaylor will be running – unopposed for Intl Secretary. Soooo join Glenn in congratulating him on this hard fought election. Information about the rest of the candidates to follow soon. Southwest Conference: The Southwest Conference was a huge success. Next year it will be hosted by AZ VI in Prescott, AZ at the Prescott Resort & Casino. Similar to this year’s registration, fees will increase the later it gets to the conference. If you plan on attending, it behooves you to register early. The hotel only has 160 rooms so it will fill early. We had the most chapter members there a few years ago than any other chapter. Let’s do so again next year. I will be sending out the registration flyer to everyone in the next week or so. No chapter put a bid in to host the 2012 Southwest Conference, so the West Coast Conference decided that they enjoyed having a joint conference with us this year so they proposed doing it again in 2012. The proposal was accepted and it will begin in Provo, UT - then travel down to Torrey, UT – and then end in Bryce Canyon. Intl President Dave Mulford joined us at the conference and made a few announcements: A) First, he showed us a new leather vest that will be available any day now. It will be a very dark blue vest. From a distance it looks black but up close it is blue. It’s a very nice vest and will be available for about $60-65.00. |

B) Spoke of finally deciding to sue those who are accusing us or teaching that the Blue Knights are an Outlaw Motorcycle Club. He asked for support from all chapters to send him any information that you might have of those who are defaming the club in such a manner. He’ll need the particulars of who, what, when, etc. C) He urged everyone to vote in the upcoming International election. During the last election, only 19% of the membership voted. He hopes that that number substantially increases this time around. As it gets closer to the election, we will be giving you information about those who are running for each office. There are a few of us who know each and every candidate that is running. The new Southwest Conference Board is: Chairman – Guy O’Connor (AZ VI) Vice Chairman – West: Glenn Carpenter (CA VI) Vice Chairman – East: Rick Parsons (NM II) Treasurer: Tom Slaughter (CA VI) Secretary: Chris Capshaw Sr (CO II) 2010 Chapter Elections: The chapter needs to begin pushing for those to step up and get ready to take the helm of this chapter. This is an election year for the chapter. The election nominations are in September, with any election taking place in November. We really need to push those we hope will lead us into the future. Those wishing to run for office should make a point of being at the September meeting or, at a minimum, contact a board member letting them know you wish to run for office. Safety Officer: Dennis Reamer has announced that he no longer is able to be our Chapter Safety Officer. If anyone is interested in filling this vital position, please let Glenn know. Anyone is able to fill this position. Membership Meetings: The September general membership meetings will be on the second Saturday due to the Labor Day holiday, and will be at Jimmy’s Restaurant in Santee. The after meeting ride in September will be going to the California Veteran’s Home in Chula Vista.
