Chapter Challenge Coin: Last month we took a vote regarding our developing a chapter challenge coin. The chapter wanted me to investigate the costs/etc. In order to get more members to buy the coin we could reduce the cost to each member by the chapter paying for the setup fees. The cost for the setup is $175 but as the number of coins ordered increase, the cost of the setup work is reduced. If anyone has any suggestions for designs please let someone on the board know. As our 20^th Anniversary as a chapter occurs on April 19^th, 2009 - maybe we can incorporate that into the coin

20^th Anniversary: Speaking of the 20^th Anniversary, the staff is open to hearing any suggestions from the membership on how we should celebrate it. Maybe a potluck at someone's house, or other suggestions that someone might come up with. Please let us know YOUR ideas.

San Diego Ride for Kids - October 19^th, San Diego Ride for Kids, Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 Mira Costa College - San Elijo Campus 3333 Manchester Ave. Cardiff, CA 92007 Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. The police-escorted ride starts at 11 a.m. sharp. For more information, call 800-253-6530 or go to   http://www.RideforKids.org. Anyone care to volunteer to head up this ride? All it means is for someone to establish a place for everyone to meet before heading over to the ride, and then lead the group to the ride itself. Are there any volunteers?

Chapter Xmas Dinner:  The Christmas Party will be on Sunday December 14^th at the Crowne Point Inn in Mission Valley. The cost will be $36.00/each for the Blue Knight and one guest. The cost would then be $40/each for each additional guest. The reason we limit it to the Blue Knight and one guest is that the chapter subsidizes a portion of each meal and pays for parking at the Hotel. You'll be sent an invitation soon that will ask you to RSVP for your food selection. The choices this year are: Beef Florentine, Chicken Bora Bora, and Salmon Kauai. We will also be inducting the new chapter officers.

2009 Poker Run: The date for the Annual Poker Run has been chosen and it's Saturday, February 28, 2009. Gary Talkington has volunteered to once again Chair the run. We will be asking for volunteers to run Poker Hands as it get closer to the day of the event.

2010 Southwest Conference:
1) International will be in Billings, Mt July 18-22, 2010
2) SWC Grand Junction, CO July 25^th - July 29^th

Vice President (Jack Fry):

Unfortunately Jack Fry couldn't be here today because his wife Yolanda fell and broke one wrist and her opposite elbow. So keep her in your prayers for a quick recovery.

Secretary (Susan Voelker): 

Reports the chapter presently has 81 members.  She has the 2009 membership renewal forms ready for your submittal, along with your payment of $35.  The renewal form will be incorporated in this newsletter, you can mail your check or money order to Susan at the listed address.  To have your motorcycle endorsement verified, see one of the staff members with your D/L handy and we'll initial the block on the form.
